Waiting for Lent

So what do we do with February?

Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Phillipians 4:6-7

As you all know, Easter moves around each year and in 2022, it is LATE.  So late that Lent doesn’t even start until the first Wednesday of March.  Yep, that’s right March 2nd is Ash Wednesday. On one hand this is great, because this provides us some more time to work through our latest positivity rates and hopefully have a Lent that feels more sacred and communal.  But on the other hand, it leaves us with all of February.  What are we to do with this extended in between time?

Well siblings in Christ, I have a proposition for you, what if we simply wait…together and with Christ during this month?  I know it has felt like all we have been doing lately is waiting, but what if this time we do it on purpose, as a community instead of because we have no other choice?  What if we collectively agree that this month, this time we won’t worry, or overwork, or freakout, but simply wait with each other and Christ knowing God is working even when we don’t feel anything and simply sit with each other.

I know, such a request feels odd, perhaps weak, lazy, uncertain, but Lent is coming and I won’t lie, I have some work planned for us Minneola. So I propose we see this month of February 2022 as gift.

As an intentional pause.
Join us for worship, relish the Word shared.
Pause to pray.
Reach out with a word of encouragement to a member of this body of Christ.
Take this month to intentionally wait for the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, [to] guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
