Year End Council Reflection

Minneola Faith Family,

It is with thanksgiving and expectation we, your 2022 Council, write this month.  Fall has brought many to worship, with our attendance averaging close to 40 each week. Sunday School is in full swing and we look forward to a Children’s Christmas Program this year in December.  There have been social functions throughout the fall, from Community Movie Night, to bowling, to our monthly potlucks and this month the Feed My Starving Children Mobile Packing Unit.  All have been well attended and offer time and space for our community to connect and reignite our love and commitment to Minneola Lutheran Church.

As the year comes to a close, we look with anticipation towards 2023 and how God is calling us into the next chapter of our life and ministry together. There are great opportunities and some challenges ahead of us. At our congregational meeting, October 16th, we were updated regarding our financial landscape and we want to ensure all members of this faith family are made aware that over the last year our weekly giving has steadily declined.  In order to hit our budget for 2022 we need an average of $2,673 per week. Up to the first of October we have been averaging $2,324. Our spending remains within budget but with the dip in giving we have used our reserve operating funds and as of mid-October our bank account holds approximately three months ($30,000) of reserves.

As the Council begins to formulate the 2023 budget it is important that the community be aware of our financial landscape and understand its impact on our ministry.  We are once again living into our full programmatic and ministry minded capacity and such robust work requires all of us to prayerfully reflect on God’s call for us to support Minneola’s ministry financially, with our time and our talents.

We, the Council, are so grateful for each and every one of you and the myriad of ways you offer support to God’s ministry through Minneola. Without you and your presence and participation in the life of Minneola, there is no Minneola. The body of Christ is made up of many members and each of you, represents a member in the one body, Christ’s body, manifest in this place. Thank you for being part of the Minneola Faith Family.
