Healing

by Barb Kittleson

Healing.  The SEMN Synod focused on healing this first synod assembly in two years due to the pandemic.  We all needed healing from the deaths sustained, the separation of our church family, and the uprooting from the life styles we were used to.  And besides the pandemic - our world has been torn by war, racial division, rampant mass shoots, and immigrant injustice to name a few.  We all need healing.

I need healing.  You need healing.  Where do we start?  What is the first step?  It is all too much…

Being together as the SEMN in assembly felt so good this year as we worshipped together, laughed together, and learned about ourselves.  To hear Bishop Hassanally preach was as if the Bible opened and spoke directly to me.  Her report to the assembly was not only a report, it was another witness of the Gospel working through us in the SEMN Synod.  Our guest speaker was Rozella Haydee White.  Rozella challenged us to imagine what is possible when we live through love, creativity, liberation, and curiosity.  She suggested that from this comes revelation, hope, and work based on God’s love for us. It felt good to be together as the SEMN Synod and realize what we are doing as God’s church in the world.
